About Dr. Hayley
Dr. Hayley has the expertise to educate readers thanks to her 35 years of experience as an academic physician. She has cared exclusively for the oldest patients in outpatient clinic and house calls, as well as in consultative settings, Assisted Living, Long Term Care, and Skilled Nursing facilities. And, she has direct experience in caring for her aged parents. Through these side-by-side experiences in care settings with thousands of hours logged listening, she has gleaned insights into the distresses and joys of advanced age and curated these perspectives to benefit individuals facing similar circumstances.
She is board-certified in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine with peer-reviewed research on care systems for older adults and Geriatrics and Palliative Care Education published in high-impact academic journals.
In addition to caring for patients, she teaches, researches, and leads in the University of Kansas Medical Center classrooms, clinical settings, and the community on the optimal care of older adults.
